Who We Are
Fungistanbul is a pioneering music group that highlights the reuse of waste through art. With instruments crafted from discarded materials by its founder Roni Aran, the group organizes concerts and workshops focused on nature and environmental themes. The extraordinary sounds produced from these instruments accompany instrumental compositions that draw attention to environmental issues, while costumes created entirely from waste by Ruken Adıbelli add a visual dimension to their performances.The group’s mission is to emphasize, through art, the negative impacts of overconsumption and fossil fuel–based production on nature, and to remind humanity of the importance of living in greater harmony with the natural world.

“Before the periods when the human population was constantly increasing, natural areas were decreasing and ecological problems were constantly growing, there was once a more harmonious order in nature and a life where humanity lived in more harmony with nature.
In today’s world where biological diversity and natural resources are decreasing due to increasing human intervention and plastic waste is increasing exponentially, the formation of a more sustainable life and conscious consumption idea, gaining awareness of advanced and recycling will allow us to think not only about ourselves but also about all living things and the future while producing and consuming.
In the period we live in, as people who are involved in different fields of art, we believe that we can remember our ties with each other and integrate with our roots by transforming our communication with nature into a relationship based on love and respect with the universal language of music and art.”
